Blue Whale Game, a dangerous social media game :
14 years old Mumbai boy Manpreet committed suicide by jumping from his society. He was studying in class 9th. Police is investigating the case but it is being referred that Blue Whale Game is the cause behind suicide. This is the first case of suicide in India due to this game that killed nearly 250 children worldwide. Out of 250 children 130 children are from Russia only. A surprising thing is that Manpreet had told his friends about his intention of suicide before jumping from the 14th floor building.
A potentially dangerous social media game, which has been linked to hundreds of teen deaths in Russia, and spreading across the world, involving a suicide game called ‘Blue Whale’ where participants win by commit suicide.
What is Blue Whale Game:
The game is called the ‘Blue Whale Game’ and is being played across various social media platforms by youngsters.
It involves players being given a curator that will control them and make them do tasks every day for 50 days. It seems like harmless fun but following investigations into the game in Russia, the game was found to be behind a large number of teen suicides.
According to reports, those who took their lives had completed smaller challenges in the ‘game’ over the 50 days and by the end of it, were encouraged to try to ‘win the game’ by killing themselves. Some of the tasks that are being carried out, such as waking up in the middle of the night to scratching a blue whale somewhere on their body.
On the 50th day the masters behind the game instruct the young people to commit suicide and sadly across the world some have done this. In Russia, two schoolgirls, aged 15 and 16, fell to their deaths from a 14-storey block of flats, another, aged 15, fell from a fifth floor flat, while a 14-year-old girl died after being hit by a train earlier this year.
The man behind Blue Whale Game:
Although it’s hard to say exactly where and when this alarming trend started surfacing online. Russian authorities believe the man behind this horrible creation is Filip Budeikin, who is currently facing charges for driving at least 15 teenagers to commit suicide.
